ON AND OFF THE GRID

RISD GRAD SHOW, INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE BOOTH

RISD Grad Show 2026 was presented at the Rhode Island Convention Center to showcase work by RISD grad students across 19 advanced degree programs.

Each year, the Interior Architecture department organizes to exhibit the work of their graduating students together. The thesis works exhibited in "On and Off the Grid" demonstrate how designers operate within, against, and beyond imposed structures.

"This exhibition mobilizes the grid as a spatial strategy. It acts as an organizing system for the gallery, regulating wall space and guiding the placement of work. Through this shared framework, a diverse body of student projects—varying in scale, medium, and approach—can be presented collectively without flattening their distinctions. Instead, the grid becomes a common ground that supports dialogue across projects, allowing affinities and tensions to surface."
